MatchSquare encourages you to list your products with all of their product options rather than splitting the products into separate listings for each different option.
As an optional step in creating or editing a product, Brands have the ability of Adding/Editing Variants or Options for their products.
Please note that creating Variants and Options manually is often not the most efficient method. Instead, please contact support@matchsquare.com with a pre-formatted import-ready file and our Data Team will handle the import to your catalog on your behalf.
Add a Variant
If your product comes in multiple versions, like different sizes and colors, you can manage these by navigating to:
- The product itself from the main Product Catalog
- Note: To quickly find a product to edit, utilize the Search feature!
- Once you have opened the product, select the 4th tab labelled "Product Imagery & Variants"
- Select the section labelled "Product Variants"
To add a Variant or Option, select the button labelled "+ Add Product Variant". Once selected, a helpful guide will open that will allow you to add the required information. Utilizing the guide, follow the flow from left to right:
- To start, first select an image for the variant using the drop-down labelled "Variant Image"
- If you have previously uploaded an image for the variant in the main image library, it will be available for selection.
- If you need to upload a new image, simply click the button labelled "+ Choose a File" and upload a new image for the variant.
- Next, provide the Variant with the appropriate Attribute that constitutes the Variant.
- Default options are:
- Color
- Size
- Scent
- Material
- Custom
- If Custom is selected, provide the Attribute label (E.g. "Style" or "Season")
- Default options are:
- Then provide the Option label for the Variant. This is a unique title given to the Variant as displayed to the Retailer
- E.g. "Black" vs "Blue", "4oz", "Vanilla", etc.
- Please note the base product's main title will still display. So if your product is a "Hand Lotion" that comes in 2 sizes, your Option labels could be "4oz" and "8oz".
- E.g. "Black" vs "Blue", "4oz", "Vanilla", etc.
- Provide a SKU as appropriate
- Enter the Wholesale Price for the Variant
- Enter the Retail Value for the Variant
- Similar to a standard base product, the Retail Value must be greater than the Wholesale Price
- Lastly, select the option to "Publish" the Variant
Repeat the above steps in sequence to add multiple Variants to your base product. You can utilize the toggle on the right side of the section to manage whether or not the individual Variant is published or not. Please note that it is possible to only have 1 Variant per base product, although it is not advised. Should you only publish 1 Variant for a Base Product, a warning modal will appear.
Add Multiple Variants or Options
In some scenarios it is possible to have a base product come in a variety of Sizes, Colors, Scents, etc. - All in one listing! An example might be that your store offers a candle that comes in 2 sizes and 4 scents. Following this example, one must:
- Create all main Variants first. For this example, we would follow the above steps and create 2 Variants:
- Travel Size
- Full Size
- Next, select the option on the right side of the "Product Variants" section labelled "Add Sub-option" for a given Variant
- Similar to the Adding of a Variant, a Guide will appear that walks you from left to right through all required fields.
- Following the sequence, Choose an Image or Upload a new one
- Select a default Attribute or create a new one (e.g. "Scent")
- Give the Option a Title (In our example, "Vanilla")
- Provide a SKU as you see fit
- List the Wholesale Price
- State the Retail Value
- Finish by marking the Option as either Published or Not, and then hit "Save"
The Option "Vanilla" has now been created underneath the Variant "Travel Size". Please note that you would then need to repeat the above steps for the remaining 3 Scents for the Travel Size candle. Similarly, you would also then need to create the 4 scent Options underneath the "Full Size" option.
Managing Variants and Options
Should you wish to make any changes to your Variants or Options, users always have the ability to change the Published status on a per-product basis.
To change the Published status of a Variant or Option, simply select the toggle on the right side of the section. This will change the product's visibility/availability to be purchased on the Marketplace.
Similarly, one can also delete a Variant or Option by selecting the "Edit" button on the right side of the section. This will open the guide, where a new option to "Delete this product" will be displayed. Simply check the box and select "Save" and the Variant/Option will be deleted.
If you wish to rearrange how your Variants or Options are displayed, look for the "Lock and Sort" icon on the upper right corner of the section.
It looks as such:
Simply select the toggle and you will be given the opportunity to drag either the Option (If present) or the Variant (And any children Options) to a ranking of your choosing. To exit the ranking/sorting mechanism, simply re-toggle to the "Locked" state.
Note:
Should you have Published Variants under a Base Product, any changes made to that Base Product's Wholesale or MSRP Pricing will NOT be reflected on the Marketplace (But changes made to the Case Quantity or Minimum Order Quantity WILL impact Variants). Instead, please update the pricing for your Variants on a per-variant basis, or reach our to support@matchsquare.com for assistance with Bulk Importing updating pricing for your Variants.
